This reel is american ..... robust ... no nonsense .... heavy duty .... over built like a tank .......

none of the sparse elegance and sexy lines of japanese engineering .....

this is another reel I'm lusting after .....and I can only afford one at a time .....

This is Shimano's Calcutta TE DC 200 .... DC = digital control ..... the thing has a Microprocessor on the left plate that controls the casting process in real time !!!!!!!!! .... the spool will never over-run during the casting process ..... first, and only, in the world .....

damm ! ... the japs are good .....

the best part about that reel ... is that the microprocessor circuit is self energizing .....

during the cast, the spinning metal spool generates the electrical energy required for the microprocessor via magnectic induction ! ... no need for batteries ! ....

brilliant ! ....

it would be fun to strip that reel down to play with it .....

i can only answer the first part - yes, he "fed" the plant soy milk. his rationale - plant "looked thirsty".
